Yeast Infection on Penis

A man can most certainly get a yeast infection on penis. This is however very rare for circumcised men but fairly common for uncircumcised ones as the foreskin provides the warm, moist, dark place in which a fungus thrives.

He can catch it from an infected woman and can easily pass it to any woman with whom he has sex. It is important therefore that both partners be treated for fungal infections at the same time and they have no sex until both are clear of infection. There are anti-fungal creams as well as drugs for persistent cases.

Causes of Penile Yeast Infection

Yeast infections in men are common because the fungus that causes yeast infections (candida) is normally present on skin, especially moist skin. When some contributing factor — such as having sex with a female partner who has a vaginal yeast infection — causes an overgrowth of candida, infection can result.

Balanitis is more common in uncircumcised men. Signs and symptoms of balanitis may include:
  • Moist skin on the penis, possibly with areas of a thick, white substance collecting in skin folds
  • Areas of shiny, white skin on the penis
  • Redness, itching or a burning sensation on the penis
Disease can result in various health problems including balanitis xerotica obliterans. It refers to chronic dermatitis which involves damaging not only of foreskin but also the glans. Phimosis is also included in the list of possible consequences. It mainly occurs when the foreskin is very tight. Paraphimosis is another common problem when a patient can’t return the foreskin to the original location after it was retracted. Cancer is probably the most severe possible consequence.

Penis Yeast Infection Symptoms

Itching or burning of the tip of the penis or the foreskin. Red rash on affected areas. These health problems represent only several possible symptoms of balanitis. In case you want to prevent the progress of the disease you need to be well-aware of all possible symptoms in order to identify the inflammation.

Here are the main balanitis symptoms:
  • inflamed glans of red color;
  • glans' soreness;
  • irritation;
  • thick and lumpy discharge under foreskin;
  • itching and unpleasant smell;
  • tight foreskin which is also known as phimosis (you can't pull foreskin back to its original position);
  • painful urination.

Some of these symptoms may occur after several days of balanitis' development. They include thick discharge and irritation.

Most penis yeast infections are easily treated with over-the-counter antifungal medications.

If you and your partner both have symptoms of a yeast infection, it's important that you both be treated to avoid reinfecting each other.

Does mark on penis from yeast infection eventually go away?

Got yeast infection. Doctor prescribed me with Nystatin. Used it for 2 weeks and it went away. Took all the Std tests more than once all negative results so that was good. Doctor checked me out after using the Nystatin said I was officially good to go no problem sent me on my way, I don't itch, no burning, nothing penis feels 100% better and functional and i have no sex at all no partners for 2 months but it just has a pink mark from where the fungus was my question is does that discoloration eventually go away?

First off heres the story I had the same think you did a "yeast infection" I had it for about 3 weeks then my father got me Nystatin what you were using and it works quite well. After the infection I had a mark near the tip of my penis :[

Month later I got another infection some how? And now its almost gone. But now theres even a bigger mark on it....so I think Maybe within a certain time the mark will go away. I think What happen was because the yeast infection caused you skin to have blisters and tear easily..

Plus if you having sex or something with that Mark just say its a birth mark to your partner. That is if it didn't disappear, good luck!

I have a yeast infection on my penis Im having some trouble having this problem go away?

The doctor prescribe me nystatin and while it has helped the yeast comes back after couple of days. Im in the military and the doctor I think could care less cause all they say is here some more cream that's all they can do for me I really want this to go away it's not helping my sex life. I did some research and I read that applying sugar free yogurt might help since the cultures eat the yeast I would like some medical advice from some one in the medical field.

Yogurt is the first step in your fight against yeast infection. In fact, it effectiveness is geting so well known that even some professional medical folks will recommend it. Yogart may be used in two ways in your treatment: first, by adding to your diet and, second, by applying it directly to the infected area.

Why yogurt?

Well, it turns out that yogurt is a great natural source of lactobacillus acidophilus which is one of your body's "friendly bacteria". When a woman gets a vaginal yeast infection her normal community of micro-organisms has gotten out of balance somehow thus opening the way for the rapid growth of the yeast fungus Candida. Therefore, supplying your body with extra acidophilus should be a part of any treatment using yeast infection home remedies.

We recommend including atleast a cup of yogurt for breakfast everyday until a full week after all your yeast infection symptoms disappear. The first week of your treatment you may want to eat a second cup of yogurt as a desert or evening snack. Just buy a good supply of your favorite yogurt - plain or flavored - low fat or regular - to enjoy with breakfast each morning. Just be sure to check the label and make sure it mentions either "lactobacillus acidophilus" or "live culture".

In addition to adding yogurt to your diet, you can apply it directly to the affected especially for vaginal infections. Purchase plain non-flavored yogurt with NO SUGAR ADDED and no fruit added for this part of the treatment. For women the application can take a little bit of creativity. Whatever you do be sure to get a few tablespoons of fresh yogurt in direct contact with the vulga and vagina. Some people have suggested using tampon applicators, a medical syringe (without a needle, of course), or even a new, clean kitchen baster.
